| Parts Needed: 13 mm wrench, 13 mm socket wrench, socket extension, 7/8" O2 Sensor Socket and rubber gloves. |
|
| 1. |
Installation is made easier with a 7/8" Oxygen Socket, found at most automotive stores. Otherwise a 7/8" spanner wrench or vise gripe will be needed.
|
| 2. |
Before beginning installation make sure it has been at least three hours since your Saab has been driven, so that the exhaust is adequately cooled down. |
|
| 3. |
Open your hood and jack up the front of the vechical as stated in the manual. |
| 4. |
Put on rubber gloves |
| 5. |
Locate the two oxygen sensors on the stock downpipe and remove them. If you Saab is built before 1996 there is only one oxygen sensor. |
|
| 6. |
Oxgyen Sensor location will vary depending on the Saab model. |
| 7. |
Using the 13mm socket or wrench remove the three bolts securing the downpipe to the turbo. |
|
| 8. |
Some newer Saab 9-3 models have an extra hanger that must be unbolted. |
|
| 9. |
From underneath locate the clamp clap, after the catalytic converter, that connects the downpipe to the rest of the exhaust. |
| 10. |
Using the 13mm Socket or wrench remove the two bolts of the clam clamp. |
|
| 11. |
With the clamp removed stike the pipe joint with a hammer to break them loose. |
|
| 12. |
Remove the two rubber hangers that help hold the downpipe and remove it from the car. |
| 13. |
Installation of the 3" downpipe is the reverse of removal. Hook up the two rubber hangers first and bolt the 3" downpipe to the turbo. Attach the clam clamp to secure the 3" downpipe to the rest of the exhaust system. Finally screw in the oxygen sensors. |
